Islay Mist was created on Islay in the 1920s using whisky from the Laphroaig Distillery as well as choice Speyside distilleries. Initially blended for the 21st birthday celebration of the son and heir of the then Lord Margadale, this gold-medal winning whisky still carries the seal of the Lord of the Isles.

Staying true to the founding recipe, Islay Mist remains the original peated blend with characteristic balanced smoky and peaty tones between layers of mellow oaky maltiness.

Whisky writer Dave Broom believes “It’s a jewel” and claims “You can quote me on it”. Some might say that is rather subjective. For objectivity please turn to those gold medals the whisky wins at international competitions. Here spirits are judged blindly by industry experts, journalists and connoisseurs.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: A subtle and seductive mixture of smoky peat and seaweed.

Palate: The peat is dominant but mellowed with a complex fusion of sweet malt, salt and oak.

Finish: The soft peat clings to the roof of the mouth as toffee and coffee ensure a bitter-sweet finish.
